Live Plus is optional. Your kit includes the first year. After that, it is $29/year for every home you own and add to the billing account and renews automatically each year until canceled. Every charge is fully refundable on request. Without Live Plus, Included Core still covers monitoring, alerts, set ranges, history, exports, household sharing, manual Sync trip imports, trip monitoring, and shareable recorded-air records.

One sensor goes where it represents the whole box: the middle shelf of a mini or wine fridge, the bottom of a chest freezer or keezer, beside the keg in a kegerator.
Put one sensor in the fresh-food compartment and one in the freezer. Each uses its own recorded-air range, so alerts identify which compartment is outside its range.
Both compartments, plus the two spots that change first: the door shelf (first to warm when the door is left open) and the crisper drawer (its own microclimate). Alerts start naming shelves instead of sensor IDs.
Placements are suggestions — the app walks you through them for your exact fridge layout, and you can always override.
| Power | Fits any standard US outlet — plugs in, nothing wired |
| Wi-Fi | 2.4 GHz (works alongside dual-band routers) |
| Sensors | Hears every ColdMinder sensor nearby over Bluetooth |
| Power use | Tracks the appliance's power use at the outlet and estimates energy cost. |
| Temperature control | In development and not part of the current release. ColdMinder currently monitors; it does not switch appliance power. |
| Measures | Temperature, humidity, and motion |
| Size | About 40 mm across — smaller than an AirPods case |
| Battery | Replaceable coin cell, typically about a year — deep cold shortens it, and the app warns you before it runs out |
| Memory | Sensors keep recording during a power or Wi-Fi outage. To import stored readings, open the app and choose Sync trip; recovered readings are marked, and any remaining gaps stay visible. |
Yes — the gateway joins your 2.4 GHz network (dual-band routers have one), and alerts travel through the cloud to your phone. No hub, no wiring.
When home power or internet is unavailable, live readings from the gateway stop. ColdMinder checks every five minutes and marks monitoring paused after at least 20 minutes without a report. Alert delivery separately requires a working route to your phone. During an internet outage, Shelly-based gateways can temporarily store some readings; MK110 gateways cannot. Neither reports without home power. Battery sensors continue recording. Use Sync trip to import sensor-stored readings; recovered readings are marked, and remaining gaps stay visible.
Sensors sit on a shelf or in a drawer; the gateway needs a wall outlet within Bluetooth range — through a fridge wall, that's the same room. Mini fridges, chest freezers, kegerators, keezers, and wine fridges are all layouts the app knows.
No. It's a monitoring aid and no substitute for safe food handling — it depends on power, Wi-Fi, and your phone, so we can't promise you'll always be alerted in time. We'd rather tell you that here than in fine print.
